The Story
Bottle Info:
- Proof: 114 (non-chill filtered)
- Bottled: 11/7/24
- Total Batch Yield: 765 Bottles
- Toasted Barrel Finish: 3 Months
- Selected By: K.LUKE Master Blender Jonathan Maisano
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Candied fruits — strawberry bon bon, mango sorbet, limoncello; brown sugar, baking spices, soft leather
- Palate: Toasted citrus peel, creamy vanilla bean, cracked peppercorn, ginger, warming leather, charred oak
- Finish: Red fruits, citrus oils, dry and long-lasting toasted oak
What is a Toasted Barrel Finish?: Unlike charred barrels — which use direct flame to carbonize the inner stave and produce the classic vanilla and caramel notes most American whiskey drinkers know — toasted barrels use indirect, lower-heat exposure to coax out different compounds from the wood itself. The result is sweet wood sugars, deeper tannins, and a kind of warm, baked quality that complements rather than dominates the base spirit. K.LUKE uses new Kelvin Cooperage barrels in a blend of medium and heavy toast, no char, for their secondary aging program.
