K,LUKE Whiskey Company Amaro Cask Finished Single Barrel Bourbon – Exclusive for Whiskey Library
About the product: The base of this single barrel is a small batch blend created by sourcing from several different distilleries in Kentucky and Indiana with different mash bills up to 36% rye and a variety of ages. Then this small batch blend was filled into a fresh emptied Amaro cask from Italy for 6 months of secondary aging at BBC.
About K.LUKE Whiskey Company: K.LUKE Whiskey Company owner and master blender Jonathan Maisano made his first single barrel trip to Kentucky in the summer of 2014. Since then, he has tasted over 1,600 barrels and selected more than 400 to be deemed as Maisano Hand Select Single Barrels for retail. Jonathan is also a first level certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. He uses this extensive sensory training when evaluating aroma and flavor profiles in whiskey barrels as there are many similar traits in both wine and whiskey when searching for nuances. In 2024 Jonathan was named the Blender of the Year from the Barleycorn Awards.
Proof: 111.8 (non-chill filtered)
Bottled: 2/23/26
Average Age: 8+ Years
Total Barrel Yield: 132 Bottles
Amaro Rouge Cask Finish: 6 months
Selected By: Master Blender Jonathan Maisano
What is Amaro: Amaro is an Italian herbal liqueurs infused with botanicals like citrus peel, roots, and aromatic herbs—bringing distinctive notes of bitter herbal sweetness, orange marmalade, and warm spice to the base Bourbon's natural profile, creating a perfectly balanced taste - not too bitter, not too sweet. It is traditionally enjoyed on its own after a meal, also makes a great addition to cocktails including one of Jonathan’s favorite refreshing Bourbon cocktails, the paper plane.
Tasting Notes: A vibrant fusion of classic Bourbon depth and refined Italian influence. Rich caramel and warm leather spice lead the way, unfolding into a lush wave of dried red fruit. The Amaro cask finish elevates the experience with a bittersweet elegance, culminating in a long, sophisticated finish of cacao nibs and subtle herbal warmth.
